Logo design, branding and website design
We delighted to be asked to design not just one but two logos for an amazing charity at the front line of breaking down the barriers and social taboos of suicide. Grassroots Suicide Prevention provide teach suicide alertness and intervention skills to community members and professionals to help prevent suicide. They are also in the process of delivering a three year plan to designate Brighton and Hove as the UK’s first ‘Suicide Safer City, hence, the need for a second logo.
After talking to and listening to the organisation we developed several ideas for logos arriving at the use of two simple and striking graphic devices. The shape of a hand giving the 'ok' symbol was chosen a s a positive sign reflecting the ethos of the training division, part of which is that it is ok to talk (about suicide). The second graphic device was the use of hands together in the shape of a heart to reflect the caring and security aspects of the scheme.
The graphic elements were used with a friendly, rounded sans serif typeface and the use of a suite of colours employed with orange the primary colour of each logo, signifying friendliness, optimism and uplifting, rejuvenating spirits. As we work with the charity we are developing a brand guideline for use of their logos in print, online and event display to ensure the brand is kept consistent.
After designing their logos and developing a branding guide for Grassroots Suicide Prevention we embarked on a new website design that incorporates the training division of the charity as well as the emerging Suicide Safer Brighton & Hove designation. The site contains information on their training courses as well as testimonials for the training and general work they do. Online donation has been incorporated on every page to help fundraising and recognition to all supporters and sponsors are included on the website to recognise their support.
An accompanying brochure has also been designed to help with the charity's marketing needs. Using the theme of the OK logo device helped to shape the commissioned photography that features on the front and is echoed on the back in the group photograph featuring an awards trophy. The Z-fold 6 page leaflet format helps to accommodate both the Grassroots Suicide Prevention and Suicide Safer Brighton & Hove aspects of the charity in an economical and practical way. It is also sized at 210mm square and matt laminated to help create a distinctive and engaging brochure format.
